Today there is too much carbon in the atmosphere, a result of many things. But the solution is the same. We need to move a large amount of CO2 out of the atmosphere to cool the planet and buy us time to solve other environmental issues. 

How do we do this? 

Regenerative Farming uses plants to pull CO2 out of the air and store it in the earth where it will be used to make our food more nutritious. This system requires animal participation, it’s not the cow it’s the how! The American prairie historically sustained 60 million bison plus billions of birds and other animals, we need animals to achieve balance.  And we need to do it at scale, currently only 5% of farms are Regenerative. If we can increase this to 25-50% it will cause Global Cooling.   It can’t be so simple you say. But it is! Current farming methods release carbon from the earth and poison the soil with pesticides making it less capable of growing food. Some studies say we only have between 30-60 harvests left before the soil will no longer grow plants due to the damage by our current farming methods. 

Why aren’t we doing this?

Current farm subsidies encourage farmers and ranchers to use the old method of tilling and feedlots. This puts our farmers on financial stress (almost a third of a farmers average income comes from government assistance) and destroys the earth (tilling releases CO2 into the air while diminishing the soil microbiome and relies on heavy pesticide use). Regenerative Farming can be 100x more profitable for our farmers, creates good farming jobs, pulls carbon out of the air and helps our water ways.

Do you have a lawn? Do you use fertilizer and weed sprays? Converting it to native plants, using a ground cover like mulch, stopping pesticides and fertilizers, and adding trees will cause the same carbon capture actions as regenerative farming. It also helps your local birds and  bees!
